Kagiso has a well-rounded legal background, which dates as far back as 2011. Prior to being called to the Bar, Kagiso worked as a Paralegal; an Attorney; and a Corporate Legal Advisor.

During 2011, he worked as a Project Assistant in the Competition Law Department of Ensafrica.┬áHe thereafter joined the firm as a Candidate Attorney in the Mining Division, specializing mainly in Mine and Occupational Health and Safety Law. After completing his articles of clerkship, he joined well-known corporate and commercial law firm Mkhabela Huntley Attorneys (MHA), where he was admitted as an attorney in 2014 and practiced for over 3 years as an Associate. At MHA, Kagiso’s practice was focused largely on: restrictive horizontal, vertical, abuse of dominance (including price discrimination) practices and mergers and acquisitions under the┬áCompetition Act; advisory to Public Entities, National and Provincial Departments and Municipalities on PFMA and MFMA compliance; advisory on applications for prospecting and mining rights under the MPRDA, as well as compliance with the NEMA; negotiation and drafting of developmental, procurement and B-BBEE funding agreements; representing clients on general commercial litigation and customary law disputes in the High Courts and Magistrates’ Courts. Kagiso later joined state-owned insurance company Sasria SOC Ltd as an in-house Legal Counsel, where his role included advising the business on corporate governance, short-term-insurance contracts, claims and disputes; drafting of IT, employment and procurement contracts, as well as general regulatory compliance under the PFMA and the FAIS Act.
