Experience:

Hannelie has 10 years’ experience in general commercial litigation. She practiced as an attorney for eight years with Ivan Levy of Levy Feinsteins & Associates and at Werksmans. She holds LLB (cum laude) and LLM (Banking Law) degrees as well as a diploma in banking law. She was called to the Bar in 2014.

 

She regularly appears in the High Court and the Labour Court, has also been appointed as an appeal panellist of a sporting body, and has taken appointments as chairperson of disciplinary hearings, arbitrator and  curator ad litem.

 

Hannelie has experience in inter alia: various contractual disputes, disclosures in terms of the Protected Disclosure Act, Labour Law, Refugee Law, Cyber Law and Harassment Law, spoliation applications, arrest tanquam suspectus de fuga, contempt of court applications, evictions, relocation applications, wrongful death suits, medical malpractice, neighbour law, delict, domestic violence, the Hague Convention on the Abduction of Children, and divorces, both unopposed and opposed.

 

She particularly enjoys urgent applications, show jumping and sci-fi thriller novels. Hannelie prides herself on being a straight-talker and always seeking to find the optimal solution for her clients. She has an interest in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and often promotes mediation. Hannelie strives to make a positive impact on the law, and in her clients’ lives, and above all to prove lawyer jokes wrong.
